We are getting extremely excited about the start of our 4th season of dance, music, and yoga at Open Arts! Let’s take a moment to be sure you are ready for the first day of class by reviewing our Dress Code and Shoe Requirements. More detailed information can also be found in our Family Handbook.
A few things to remember:
- We do not have any color requirements for tights or leotards. We do prefer PINK ballet slippers, BLACK tap shoes, and BLACK jazz shoes. If you have an old pair of shoes that are a different color – no worries! They will be fine for class.
- All clothing needs to be form-fitting so that we can see your dancer’s body, placement, and alignment.
- Hair needs to be pulled back neatly and there should not be any loose hairs in your dancer’s eyes or face. This is a safety issue just as much as it is an effort to keep dancers from being distracted during class. Ballet I-II- and III dancers MUST have hair in a bun for every class.
- Dressing appropriately, having your hair neat, and brining the proper shoes to every class is all a part of the discipline and responsibility we are trying to teach our dancers. It is also an important way for students to show respect to their teacher, classmates, themselves, and the art form they are studying.
If you have any questions about our dress code, please do not hesitate to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or give us a call at (919) 651-0447. I truly believe that self-expression includes the way you dress, which is why I try to keep our dress code as relaxed as possible. But I do appreciate your help in ensuring our dancers adhere to the basic standards we have outlined.
We are looking forward to seeing you at Open House on Saturday, August 13th from 12-2pm and can’t wait for classes to begin on August 15th. Also, don’t forget that Releve Dancewear in Cary is hosting an Open Arts Shopping Day and offering our families 20% off their entire purchase (not valid on pointe shoes, clearance, Nfinity or Dream Duffel merchandise, or personalization services) when you shop between 10am and 7pm on TUESDAY, AUGUST 9th.
