FROM THE DIRECTOR
Happy 2017 Open Arts Family! It’s time to start something new and trust in the magic of beginnings. We are so happy to welcome many new faces to our studio this month – welcome home – we are so glad you’re here. I am always so grateful that we have lots of magic happening at our studio every day. As we move forward into the new year, we will be preparing for our 4th Showcase – #super, celebrating our theme with a Super Hero Ball, hosting our very first Winter Workshop Weekend, dancing in a parade at Disney, and so much more. We have so many wonderful things to share in together this year.
Just another quick reminder that our Mobile App, which you can download from the Google Play Store and theApple Store, is the easiest way to register for classes and events, make payments, update your account AND receive push notification for studio events and reminders. In addition, we also have our new Google Calendar, which you can sync to your own calendar so you’ll never miss an Open Arts event again.
Here’s to new beginnings and magical things for us all! See you at the studio soon. xo
HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR VIDEOS
We have wonderful recordings of all 3 Holiday Spectacular shows available for download. You can download your1st show for $10 with additional shows being $5 each. If you’re interested in downloading your own copy, please send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with the show time you are interested in and I will e-mail you the link to download. You can play your files on your computer, burn a DVD, or play them directly from your TV with a service like FireTV or Google Chrome. You may even be able to access them directly on a TV if it has a USB Port. I had so much fun watching the videos over the holidays and witnessing again the joy and laughter and pride we all shared on that sweet day.
SUPER HERO BALL
Mark your calendars for our Super Hero Ball, a Fundraiser for the Open Arts Performance Company and a fun way to celebrate our end of year Showcase theme, #super! The Super Hero Ball will be held at the studio on Saturday, January 21st from 5-7pm and is designed as a parent-child dance for families to enjoy together.
Tickets to the Ball are $20 per family and include admission to the event, activities for the entire family, and snacks/beverages. Make sure you plan your Super Hero Costumes – we’ll be giving away several awards including Best Costumes, Best Homemade Costumes, Most Original Super Hero, and more. We will also have several fun dance contests for parents and kids to enjoy together.
The Super Hero Ball will take the place of our Little Sweethearts Dance as our parent-child event for this year. Tickets will go one sale next week and will be limited, so be sure you secure your ticket early!
WINTER WORKSHOP WEEKEND
I am so thrilled to share the details of our Winter Workshop Weekend with you! This is a project I have been wanting to make happen ever since our studio opened, giving our students an intensive weekend of training, physical and emotional development, and exploration in a professional and challenging setting that is also supportive and fun.
The workshop is open to students ages 8 and up and will take place January 27-29th with rehearsals for a new piece that will be performed in our Showcase, workshops in special techniques such as acro, yoga, deep stretch, and conditioning, and a lecture series from Doctors and Health professionals.
Tuition for the weekend is $140 per student. We only have a few spaces left, so be sure to register via the Mobile App or Family Portal as soon as possible.
Don’t forget about our Mid-Season classes, which begin in January and run through the end of May. This is a fun time to add a new class for your child or to share these extra opportunities with your friends who may be interested in joining the Open Arts family! Existing students can simply add a mid-season class via the Mobile App or by logging into your account online. There will be a $50 Costume Fee due at the time of registration for current Open Arts students. New students will be charged a $10 Registration Fee and $50 Costume Fee at the time of registration.
- Tuesday 5:15-6:00pm – Tap (ages 7+)
- Wednesday 4:45-5:15pm – Creative Movement (ages 2-3)
- Wednesday 5:15-6:00pm – Ballet/Tap (ages 3-5)
- Wednesday 6:00-7:00pm – Jazz/Hip-Hop and Tap (ages 6-8)
We ordered all Showcase Costumes over the Thanksgiving Break. Some costumes will arrive in the next few weeks, others will arrive over the next several months. We will send your child’s costume home as soon as we receive them.
We always have students slide costumes on in class so the teacher can check to make sure the sizing is appropriate. Remember – we are not able to return costumes. Only in severe sizing issues are we able to exchange costumes for a different size, but there will be a $30 Re-Stocking and Shipping fee.
Once you receive your child’s costume, please put it in YOUR closet – or a safe place where it will not get damaged. Students should not wear their costume until Picture Day, Dress Rehearsal, and the Showcase. Again, we can not exchange costumes and many companies will NOT be able to get an additional costume to us in time for our show due to production times and delays.
