FROM THE DIRECTOR

Thankful. It’s that time of year where we will see and hear from our friends and family all over social media everything they are thankful for. I love this practice, because when we really put our minds to it, there is no end to the things for which we have to be thankful. And focusing on this can bring us so much happiness. On the hard days, I remind myself that I get to walk into “work” every day and be surrounded by the laughter, smiles, growth, friendship, art, dance, music, joy, and LOVE that fills our space, and for that I am forever grateful. Thank you for filling our space with so much goodness.
Just another quick reminder that our Mobile App, which you can download from the Google Play Store and the Apple Store, is the easiest way to register for classes and events, make payments, update your account AND receive push notification for studio events and reminders. In addition, we also have our new Google Calendar, which you can sync to your own calendar so you’ll never miss an Open Arts event again.
Congratulations to Katy Liles for being selected to perform as a part of the Wake County All-County Chorus and to Lila Summerville for being invited to dance a solo at her school’s Winter Chorus Concert. I love to share great news about our students, so please keep me informed!
I am looking forward to making some new memories with my Open Arts family this fall – see you at the studio soon. xo
OPEN TALENT NIGHT + FALL FESTIVAL IS SATURDAY
I hope you will make plans to join us for our very first Open Talent Night and Fall Festival on Saturday, November 5th from 5-7pm here at the studio. Drop by for Carnival type fun and activities including a Bounce House, Tattoo Station, Cookie Decorating, Games, and more. PLUS our Open Talent Night Talent Show, featuring different acts prepared and performed by our Open Arts students will take place at 6pm. This fun event hosted by and serves as a fundraiser for our Open Arts Performance Company. There is a suggested donation of $5 per person and your support helps the OAPC bring dance and the arts to our community and those who may not otherwise get to experience them.
WINTER WORKSHOP WEEKEND
I am so thrilled to share the details of our Winter Workshop Weekend with you! This is a project I have been wanting to make happen ever since our studio opened, giving our students an intensive weekend of training, physical and emotional development, and exploration in a professional and challenging setting that is also supportive and fun.
Details will be going home with all of our dancers ages 8 and up. The workshop will take place January 27-29th with rehearsals for a new piece that will be performed in our Showcase, workshops in special techniques such as acro, yoga, deep stretch, and conditioning, and a lecture series from Doctors and Health professionals.
Tuition for the weekend is $140 per student. When you register your child before Dec. 17th, we will include a personalize invitation and a FREE event Tank Top gift wrapped so you can place it under the tree – because the Winter Workshop Weekend is the perfect holiday gift for the dancer in your life!
We will be adding a few fun, new classes for kids to join in the Mid-Season. These classes begin in January and run through the end of May and all Mid-Season students also get to perform in our end of year Showcase. This is a fun time to add a new class for your child or to share these extra opportunities with your friends who may be interested in joining the Open Arts family! Existing students can simply add a mid-season class via the Mobile App or by logging into your account online. There will be a $50 Costume Fee due at the time of registration. New students will be charged a $10 Registration Fee and $50 Costume Fee at the time of registration.

Holiday Spectacular Information went home with all of our Level I, II, and III students last month and is also available on our website. We will be adding costume/dress requirements for each class to the website over the next few weeks. Please speak to your child’s teacher if you have any questions! We are looking forward to this fun and festive holiday sharing at the Double Tree RDU Airport on Sunday, December 11th with shows at 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm.
There is a $15 Performance Fee due November 15th if your child is performing. This fee helps off-set the production costs and includes TWO FREE tickets to the show. Additional tickets will go on sale beginning Nov. 7th will be $5 each plus tax. If your child will NOT be able to perform, you must inform me via e-mail to email@example.com by November 1st so that we can be sure to apply Performance Fees appropriately.
COSTUME FEES + FORMS
Costume Fees ($60 per child per class) were due October 15th. Please be sure your account is up to date with all fees paid and your signed costume form is returned to the studio prior to Thanksgiving Break.
