Showcase Tips & Tricks
Steam and hang all costumes before each performance and hang tutus upside down to allow them to reach their full
Place your name in ALL shoes, costumes, accessories, and belongings.
Make sure the little ones use the bathroom before suiting up - bathroom breaks in costumes can be tricky!
Be sure to eat a large and healthy lunch and a hearty snack (lots of protein with fruit and/or veggies) before the Showcase and Rehearsals. You may want to pack a non-messy snack for your dancer to have backstage the night of the Showcase. If you bring snacks to the Dress Rehearsal, please remember to leave the theater and snack in the lobby or outside. The show and rehearsal should not run more than two hours.
Be sure to get a good night's sleep before the Showcase! Relax and take it easy on Saturday before the performance.
Don't forget to have FUN! I know it can be stressful having to gather all of the materials together, arranging plans for family and friends the guests from out of town, running to and from the theater and studio all week, and all on top of everything else you have going on. But remember to breathe, enjoy this magical time with your child, and know that everything will be fine! At the end of the day, nothing in your 11-page Showcase Handbook matters as much as making sure the kids are having fun, feel loved, and have a chance to shine!
